This coal burning power plant was once part of the Coal Brook Breaker, a colliery located in Carbondale. It was owned and operated by the D&H Coal Company, who also ran about fourteen other collieries in Pennsylvania. The breaker was taken down sometime in the 1970s, and the powerhouse featured here was demolished in 2006 along with any remaining mine buildings for redevelopment.
