Auditorium

Auditorium

The auditorium sat at one end of the school. Luckily, there was no sub-basement, because the floorboards were heavily water damaged and breaking underfoot.

There is a sub-basement yes, if you look on a stage, there's a hole in it that leads there. When you leave the auditorium, there should be a janitors closet on the right, there's stairs leading down into it there.
It was never beautiful... but it was home for so many years.....
I can't believe I played basketball here and we performed musicals on stage!!
Jack.....like the MICADO? and Fidler? just to start....
Are those radiators right there inside of the doors? Not very efficient. Plus when you came into the door they would be right there in the way!
those are just the entrance doors to the stage wings. the actual entrances to the room are to the right of the photograph, off camera.

I remember walking along the wall to teh right of the stage two years ago, and the floorboads nearly caved in on me. It was scary! It's so broken and sad, there.
I went to summer camp here for years (late '70s, early '80s). I learned how to play dodgeball in this room. It's so sad to see such a beautiful property in such disarray.
Mikado, Fidler, Olvier, Christmas band and chorus, and HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!
You got used to the radiators, especially during basketball (and there used to be a hinge structure on the ceiling, from which the goal would be lowered).
There was a space below the stage that was used to store costumes and props.
That tiny black square on the rear wall behind the curtain was one of the 4 "portholes" from the projectionist's booth.
I would love to investigate here!
Those were some of the best high school plays ever. Boy for sale (Oliver) was alot of fun and Fiddler was top notch.
