Can you imagine what that tub would cost today?: or how much you could get for the stainless steel alone? wow
silk
Still looks like it's in use.
That may have been a whirlpool tub. I work in a care center and they have 2 of them except their more modern and not as large so they're more accessable to the residents.
That tub is amazing...it looks spotless.

I wonder what all those gadgets on the wall were used for?
Amazing how CLEAN it all is.....except for the floor...even the MIRROR is clean!!!
Tonio, my dear child, I wasn't going to tell anyone this, and up till now it has been a secret from most people, known only to a few entrusted souls. However, given your phobia of germs, which we in the field feel the need to complicate by renaming "misophobia," I strongly believe you should know the following information. After Mr. Motts has photographed a facility, in many cases not only does he follow the policy of "don't take it - don't break it," on a few occasions he has felt the call of public duty so strongly that he has actually done a little cleaning before he has left.

Mr. Motts, my friend, I am sorry. I hope you can forgive me some day, but I thought our little Antonio needed to know this important information to aid with his "germ issues" - I believe his very mental health may hang on this some day. :-(

*~Just stares in amazement at Mr. Motts all dressed up for work~*
So, that's where my apron got to. Your day job is Merry Maids? Wear the apron well, kind sir, and don't forget to moisturize when you are done for the day. Those cleaning chemicals will tear your hands up!
Great pics Lynne. Got my laugh for the day. One technical question: What's the reason for the odd shape of the tub?
Now I just live for Lynne's photoshops.....
Hey, Lynne,
"Domesticity"

I almost fell of my chair laughing at that one :-)
BWWAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! :``)

*Mott's, you missed a spot!!!*
Bill,

This is a "full body immersion tank" that allows better access to the person by the therapist:

Lynne, have you tried the chat room Lyric started? A.M. myself, and Serena are there...although Serena might not be near her PC.

I would, but I am popping back and forth to the computer as I do my monthly data analysis for the place I work. Coming here is my reinforcer for working for a predetermined amount of time. :-)
Come by when you can Lynne.. I wasn't sure if it would catch on or not.
Either I will be around or Serrena. I really don't care who opens it up.
It's for everyone to use.
Lynne I'd HELP you if I could....Good luck catching up! Sound like a frenzy there....
I actually live within resonable distance of this place. Does it really have "visiting hours?"
No, it's off limits to the public all the time.
HeHeHe!!! Used to have a cat named Snazzy! Just made me laugh!
As a physical therapist, I used this type of tank in the early part of my career for large people with multiple wounds. The whole process of filling the (Hubbard) tank, putting the patient in it, whirlpooling for 20 min, taking them out, dressing the wounds, and transporting the patient back to their room and transferring them back to bed (whew!) took around two hours with only about half of that time as billable time. Some of these patients were twice a day! Egads! I've not used this type of tank in at least ten years. Not efficient enough for the ins companies.
Love this website, by the way!
I was the Head Physical Therapist from 1994-1996. When I first started in 1993 they were still using this with a fwe patients who had pressure sores and ulcers. I was working there in the winter of 1996 when the "Clinic" building was flooded. It occured shortly after the blizzard of 1996 in early January. The 26" of snow that shut down NYC for a day evenutally melted and rand down the hill off the Palisades and flooded the basement of this building rendering it completely useless. At the time is was the main building on campus. It was the medical clinic for Dental, outside MD's that treated LVDC clients, Physical Therapy and it also housed some of the LVDC Administrators.

It was the beginning of the end for LVDC's campus. This picture brings back a lot of memories. I only worked at LVDC for 3 years (had a scholarship from NYS and chose to work with Developementally Disabled individuals....ended up at LVDC.)

I just happened to google LVDC, just to see if there was anything on the web...and got to your site. The pictures are very eerie. I spent three long years there.
OMG...imagine ..a person lies there in the wather...brrrr....
MOTTS I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU USED THE WORD SNAZZY!
oops, capslock
Haha Krow, he also calls teenagers "kids". I bet he uses the word 'neat' a lot too.

;) just playing
I'm just going to post photos without any text if you guys keep this up!
:-)
lol don't do that Motts! you know we love you :-) and I'll bet some of us ladies tease you because well... you know what they say about guys and girls teasing each other...

I'm just playing XD maybe I'm right, but I'm only playing! lol
*edit to above* maybe I'm right FOR SOME, but I'm only playing! lol

lol I had to change that, it sounded really wrong for a minute there! lol

but anyway... that tub is so weird shaped! its like an amoeba (I think thats how its spelled)
*puts paws on the table*
I apologise profusely. If I thought for a moment you would take me seriously I would never have opened my big fat mouth. I'm horribly terribly awfully sorry, I retract it all. My bad.
But...but...they ARE snazzy!

Lynne, those pics were hysterical. (Do they still use that word to describe a medical condition? ;)
Only mine. :-)
Amazing piece of equipment Motts. Most of the equipment left in our old hospitals are taken as soon as the doors are closed.
Jason England.
Just saw a documentary on Sundance called "the Origin of AIDS".... seems that around 1950 some doctor working on a polio vaccine used his experimental vaccine on a group of human patients at Letchworth Village... a highly unethical if not illegal practice... and he was denounced because of it.
GREAT website, by the way, and if you haven't seen the flick "Session 9", check it out!
By far the best piece of equipment from all of the locations.
the cops are patroling this place like crazy now...
thanx to a local bunch of magazine starting kids that keep going up there...15of them at a time...
ruined it for everyone :(
Not really. All you have to know is when the cops come by to patrol. I gonna try to get in late at night myself. All I godda know though is at what times they patrol. I godda have to do a few steak outs at night, rofl.
yea im just gunna get like a permit or something to investigate this places paranormal happenings
i wanna take a bath there!!!!!! it looks like the water would get pretty warm in stainless steel. just add some bubbles and walla
what is that???
kinda bulky
Could do alot of laundry in that thing
All i hear is the hollow drip of a old tap.
well whoever took this pic is stupid because now that room is trashed and all the lights are broken and the tub is flipped over(sorry bout flippin the tub over we were kinda high)
Mr Motts,

I will give you some true facts about letchworth if you want. You can e-mail me.
r.fox91101@gmail.com
I really hope you weren't the one who flipped that tub over Mike. It's awful to see how disrespectful people are by pictures and what remains of Letchworth but to hear someone admitting it... you shoulnd't even bother to go and disgrace it anymore. Nor should you call the photographer 'stupid' for documenting a place before it was trashed by some low life teenagers
I know I'm a year late on this post, but I have one of these tubs!
If you know more about it or know how I could sell it email rrcedarcity@gmail.com
Throw that jerk Michael off the website. I wish you people would put some intelligent comments only pertaining to the picture or your experiences at Letchworth . Otherwie, go to facebook or twiter. Thanks, Motts for your awesome work !
It's a difficult decision on whether or not to respond to a comment that was obviously made to anger those of us who appreciate & admire the work of a true artist. "Mike" (if that's your real name) all I'm doing here is spoon feeding you the attention you so desperately crave. Perhaps you're childish & self serving actions is a way to compensate for your tiny, undeveloped genitals or maybe you were neglected by parents who should have beat your ass at an age before you considered vandalism an acceptable form of entertainment. No matter. I'm just going to remain quiet. Your comment was made years ago and I'm sure you are still living in your mom's basement, unemployed, and toking a joint. You couldn't read this anyway.
@Lynne:

Are those actually photoshopped pictures of Motts? o_o
looks like a still to me :)
