Now, that is a great picture!
Very nice photo. Beautiful shades of grey, it is like every brick has it's own personality. I wonder where that 'door' lead to.
Press a button on the third stair..............and see what happens
Sometimes, walls just look empty. Had to make it feel not so lonely, right?
Now, that's an awesome shot! The "secret entrance"...
Reminds me of something Sarah Winchester would have done. I like it. Doors that lead to nothing intrigue me. Makes me wonder what the designer had in mind ... and also makes me wonder why it never got completed ... or was it blocked for some mysterious reason? We may never know, but speculation is always more fun than fact anyhow.
THOSE ARE STAIRS SPECIFICALLY FOR GHOSTS!!!!!
It looks like there once was a door there, but for some reason they covered it up in stones.
the doors were probly blocke off because inmates were trying to escape terrible things that were happing to them. one of the women said the had she had hiked to Letchworth with school and were able to play with some of the children and they thought it was a stange place. Wow
Inmates?
i live up the rd. form this place and when i drive pased it i allwast get the chills
It does have an air of mystery but real people used to live there. They were treated well and it was a beautiful place
um.. i'm sorry "author" but not all of them were treated well. I supervise community group homes now and one of the people who lives in one of my homes lived at Letchworth for almost 30 years... he's pretty F*ed up now and has lovely stories about how "well" he was treated... you're living in la-la land "author".
Memories and stories from those people who were actual visitors, employees, patients, or relatives of patients are especially encouraged on this site. If you have had different experiences than some or have heard conflicting information, please remember that this does not necessarily negate the experiences that others have had.
The stones look pretty much the same in the doorway. I wonder what the purpose of the blockage was for?
I was so scared this place is like hell never go there at night
My dad worked in one of the LV buildings, about 25 years ago, and he has some stories to tell.

Those patients were NOT treated well...
Now that is some spooky stuff!!!
Are we able to hear about some of the stories?
i think we would all benefit from hearing some personal experiences ie. some stories!
yes stories would be nice
i lived at lakeside school from 63-69 we used to play baseball and basket ball every year with kids that were inmates.
t some times their teams would come to lakeside to play us on our field. one time at a base ball game several of us from lakeside needed to use the rest room after the game.so we were told to follow this little kid who ran with his head jammed between his shoulders hopping and skipping down this long hall into a room that had beds on both sides of the hall right next to each other all the way down the hall there were ppeople in every bed reaching out at us as we ran behind no neck to the bath room. once there i remember having to wait to go and my friends left with no neck before i was finished.i was worried that some staff was going to give me a shot and i would never get out of there.yea i started crying and yelling for somebody to help me find my way out when all of a sudden i see mr peters from lakeside coming toward me and instead of helping me he was trying to get away from this guy who running after him with a branch from one of those bushes out side any way that happened to me back in 1967 im 51 years old now in 67 i was10
There was once a door there but the police at the time had it shut by them putting stones over it because kids were sneaking in at night to mess around with the paitents
and btw the best time to go is at night because that is when it is the most creepy
I went to letchworth awhile back, in the winter.
We went to break into one of the buildings, and when we finally found one that we could get into, it was a tiny room with one window, and no way into the rest of the building. creepy stuff.
we want more stories! ;)
Yeah I live near letchworth ville the door was probably blocked off
well, in starting a little research into this place, by my 2nd source i found the record of at least one patient that was suffocated to death. i'm so getting way further into this. so sorry author i'm not buying into the patients were well treated!
Reminds me of "Neverwhere."
