Upstairs was basically a massive archive of hospital records, and looked well maintained. Oops.

What is that round shiny gold metal thing on the wall ? Looks like a HUGE buzzer.
Good question LucieLou, I'm wondering too. Were those recent hospital records, Mr. Motts? Not much confidentiality I guess.
It does look like a buzzer. Motts, you didn't ring it and see who came? It would have been hard for me not to at least push the buzzer and run.. LOL
That "buzzer" looks more like a curtain rod holder to me.
Yeah I couldn't read much, but most items were labeled with years between 1990-1999.
Medical records is usually a large area and sometimes all of the staff is busy "in the stacks" so the buzzer was probably for people who needed to talk to a person. The hospital I worked in had a bell connected to the door. When ever the door was opened the bell rang. Wouldn't that drive you crazy?
thats alot of files that should have been destroyed years ago. crazy
It's strange and a little unsettling that they just leave old records in these buildings. Isn't there some kind of privacy protection law against that? I
It sounds like they are still using the records from what Motts said. It probably made sense to someone to leave them locked up here and available for research verses transporting all of them elsewhere.

Various entities have different rules for how long records must be kept. Animal records in the US must be kept for 7 years, airplane parts records ( especially the turbine blades ) must be kept for the life of the part or airframe.
I could sit there and read those forever. It would be so surreal, getting a glimpse into the lives of thousands who've been long forgotten by most everyone
Same here, morbid curiosity would make me want to look through these boxes, but the fact it's so clean and with that buzzer, I'd be afraid that someone would pop in unexpectedly.
I agree with eldokid. I would be SOOOO paranoid! This looks almost TOO maintained, compared to the rest of the place...I would be afraid of someone coming in and catching me...or of a Zombie Goat, or Zombie Snake...or a ZOMBIE!

Bzzzz...yes, Mr. DEADHEAD need the record from 1999 please...
yes Binky but the seven year animal record law your talking about ... same for patients in the united states anyways.
I am with Dan, I would love to read these, being a psy nurse, I could spend hours doing that.
Is that a granite floor?
Not a buzzer,it is a metal plate used to cover a flue hole in the chimmney.
That is a great Panic Button!
Good on you for not sticking around, Motts. A scrupulously-cleaned and orderly area in an otherwise disaster-case building means "active".
I agree with Dan (above). Could sit and scour the records for days. Interesting, to say the least.
