Orange Shock

Orange Shock

Some blindly-bright colors assaulted my eyes upon turning the corner of the hallway. Some of the original windows can be seen in the back; small panes with green stained glass diamonds.

Wow, that is the definition of assaulted
Yikes! The green/blue in the doorway does not go with the orange at all and the orange does not go with the windows, but the windows could go with the window. I'm confused.

Motts, what is the wooden thingie on the floor and is the decorative panel part of it or part of the window?

Oh, one more thing. You will find more clear glass mixed with the colored glass in the European structures. America tended to go all color or all clear. Segregation, you know.
Oops. I meant the windows could work with the green/blue wall. I got too excited about being an early bird to this gallery.
My Eyes! My EYES! :0 The stained glass is quite pretty... if thats all you look at.
Exactly what I'm thinking, Lucie. To someone in a fragile mental state, I think this would bring on a relapse. Was there perhaps a colony of hippies living here at one time?
I agree with Liza.
That color would MAKE me crazy if I wasn't already!
a beautiful old window, and then some jackass with a paintbrush in the 1970's had to ruin it.
Andy you are exactly correct about the time frame for this color in hospitals. We moved from out "old" hospital to the new in 1977 and all of the colors in the new one were bright and "cheerful" Supposedly these colors were based on the latest color research. This is a perfect example about how wrong research can be.
It looks like a giant Wurlitzer jukebox! O_o
I love that window but I agree that the orange is horrible. What were thyey thinking?
Can't handle this. be back after a few drinks
Interesting pic. Is white thing against the wall in the foreground a radiator? I've never seen one that high off the floor before.
ewwww i do not like that color at all
That radiator is kind of creepy
bright and cheerful , loud and garish, to each there own i suppose, apparently they hadnt heard of the studies of colours and mood. gives me a headache lookin at it lol
