Barren

Barren

I recall not opening many doors; directly across the way was the functioning wing with excellent visibility through the windows. Most doors were also missing handles to open them.

So that's where Jimmy Hoffa is. Beautiful location & photography. The only way I'll ever see these magnificent locations in Europe is through your camera lens. Thanks for taking us along.
Missing handles? Maybe you should have brought a hook..

That familiar light fixture again...
I actually do bring a small hook, especially after a very flush door with no handle shut on me in the wind once... it was very helpful!
I wonder what the floors looked like before they were cleaned, not so nice I think
Can you wallpaper this as well please? This is a-ma-zing! Very nice shot!!!
Me too. Wallpaper Please Motts?
LOOK A SOAP DISPENSER!!!! (Sorry...had to!)

I can't get over the feeling as if I am looking at an elementary school! How gorgeous this place is.
ya the ceiling looks freshly painted , this place stayed well perserved in some areas
Pick a door, any door!
YAY WAAAAAAALLLLLLPAPEEEEERRR!!!

WOOHOOO!! Can you see me jumping for Joy?? :D
Motts, Can you describe what made you choose this particular photo as a wallpaper? Is it the symmetry? lighting, colors? How its plain and unassuming, yet pleasing to the eye?
To me, this completely barren ward actually reveals something about the place - some kind of truth of what this hospital really consisted of when it was built. I can't imagine much being different in this scene 100 years ago, in 1906, except for some furnishings and of course the residents and staff. This photo captures the "bones" of the building, so to speak. I also enjoy the composition, color, and repetition, and the photo can be cropped to various screen formats without suffering too much.
It gives me a kind of Alice-in-Wonderland feeling. What's on the other side of all those intriguing doors with no knobs? Is that a hole in the door on the left? The hallway itself is spacious and airy in the daytime, but those tiny light fixtures wouldn't put out much light after dark. That ceiling looks freshly painted, which only adds to the quality of the picture.
Your comment on capturing the *bones* of the building with this photo.. and how it remains basically unchanged after 100yrs. is one that i can truly appreciate. Thanks much for taking the time to answer. Its always a pleasure to have some insight from the Man behind the camera lens :)
This great! I love the colors and the lines. It almost doesnt look real
Thanks for sharing that Mr. Motts. It is always wonderful to "get inside your head" sometimes and find out the reasons behind the pictures. :)
This almost looks like a backdrop. Beautiful.
