Almost has a militant look to that angel, like it is ready to strike at anyone that comes too close. As long as it is not weeping though.
Another of those crafts lost to the ages ??
An angel has her wings.
Looks like the angel is flipping someone off...my goodness...

That is one nice statue though.
that angel is showing a little leg, (oh boy) :)
its funny how they would abandon innocent angels like that
The details are spectacular! Look how true to life the knees and elbows are.
I agree with wjbodin3 -- that is one sturdy-looking angel. And I lthink it's a male angel. Probably my guardian angel after I wore him out.
Its hard to imagine how long that statue has been there
Definitely a male angel...no um...breasts on it. (SORRY!)

LOL @ MomPink that was a good one.
@ Ferdy--No, it's not lost, just not as common as it once was. There are stone sculptors in Italy and Greece today, they are getting older and have but few apprentices to learn the craft. (If it cannot be done by a robot and a computer, very few young people would take the time to learn something so labor intensive. :-(

Question: What is the first letter of the word "abandoned?"
