Nice place, Nice room
My first thought when I looked at this picture was that it was a room with a pool (for hydrotheraphy perhaps), or a bathroom. But since there aren't any pipes or places where pipes used to be, operating room is probably a better guess. I wonder what that interesting-looking alcove on the left was for. Also, on that same wall, it looks like there used to be tall arched doorways that were bricked in. It's a very interesting room. It looks like the 'old' is overtaking the 'new.'
The tiling on the walls makes me think pool as well.
Probably not though.
operating room, with lights that high, my vote is a ?
Why does the floor look so "spongy" - is that some sort of white mold or dust on it?
I vote OR. I like the exposed brick.
I don't know but sure beats puck yellow >>
I see whats left of arched doorways as well. The OR must of been an after thought or added on as need arose. Do like the Blue!
Looks like a high school cafeteria to me. All that's missing is the lunch lady behind a counter pushing the tuna melt special!
I like the color also...and I do see the remnants of an arch by that little alcove there...wonder what that was about.

That floor looks absolutely putrid. I wonder how this place smelled...did it smell musty and moldy Mr. Motts? Wow. Almost an illiteration there. :D
The floor is probably covered not only with mold but the deteriorated plaster from the ceiling and walls above the tile. Man, that tile lasts forever.
Another standard issue lobotomy room. High speed saws, power tools and equipment. Slings a mess all over the room so the walls are made to be hosed down easily. Has that musty smell of molding brains, etc..
My first thought was also that this room held a pool. I can't believe they walled in that beautiful brick work.
Unfortunately autoguy is right, This was an early industrial age lobotomy procedure room .
A place where such a prehistoric practice has not been entirely outlawed in some parts of the world where some Doctors can satisfy penchants for resulting behavioural attributes in patients post operational which were their only reason for the splice cut and removal of regions of the limbic systems which left the patients uncaring of survival at all and semi comatose where as before they were at least human !
This would be an interesting locale for a PPV set up and i would try silverplate flash frame photos instead of video for like white noise the secret to seeing the dimensional would be an ancient practice of flash silverplate technique i would bargain !
I highly doubt that lobotomies were performed in this hospital, as far as I know about the history of this beautiful building and architectural landmark.
In his last days this hospital served for heart and lung deseases.

And by the way this room has more the size of a thoracic surgery operation theatre.
Lobotomies were mostly performed in much smaller rooms.
