Very impressive building .
Those arches are huge.
Why let such a beautiful building rot?
was it hot down there?
Wow, how high were those ceilings?
nick - nope, it was that cool basement temperature that doesn't change that much

BKW - I would say the pit goes two stories down.
Wow wow.

Frickin HUGE.
Those arches are scary looking!
Two words:

Rope
Swing

Lagers were aged in these cool tunnels for a couple months or more, plus general storage of beer to keep it all cool. Ideal lagering cellars would stay in the range of 50 to 60 degrees F all the time.
All this talk of beer is making me thirsty.
