Entrance One

The other tower attached to the granary. I wonder if it functioned like a silo.

No wonder the first family ran out of money. They even did their granary in crazy, ornate style.. very beautiful, but very expensive I'm sure.
yea I don't know if I'd fill that up with grain or whatever, it's too nice.
Lot of windows there for a silo unless there was a way to close them off somehow ..
Looks like someone stole the huge golden onion that should be on top of the tower.

Yes I too would like a tower in my house..
what a nice place to watch a storm from
Looks absolutely like a fairy-tale house.:)
I love round buildings/rooms. Would love to live in a lighthouse. They managed to do all this with none of the technology we use today.
amazing brick work
Maybe a crazy suggestion, but could it have been a watertower ?
Definitely a good possibility!
okay, have any of you heard this one? My dad use to tease me about the cement grain towers when I was a kid. He said they used them sometimes as jails.
Problem was the poor guy inside went insane cuz he couldn't find a corner to **** in.
Oh well.
Lovely work, motts, as usual.
This tower is from my dreams as a kid. I wanted a house with a special room for reading. Like at the top of a tower with all the lighting needed and a comfortable chaise. One like this would be perfect. The windows would allow me to watch the world as I curled up with my Kindle and my cat. Great set of pics of some truly special buildings the like of which will never be built again.
