Bricked

Bricked

After trying to do some masonry myself, I get blown away by brick work like this.

Motts, where did you attempt this masonry?? They just don't make 'em like they used to...
I can't even begin to imagine HOW they did it -- and made it all come out even. I'd love to learn how (I think) ;)
That is amazing work.
freakin' awesome! I want to know how they did the brick ceilings.
I love the stepped down sides to the niches on either side of the door, and the brick detail in the niches is awesome.
That is incredible brickwork. This was all done by hand using 100 year old technology. It's in remarkable condition.
The builders put their heart into these buildings. And it shows from the details and beauty. They don't bother with stuff like this anymore. Too bad...sure did make a gorgeous building.
I agree totally. I wonder why that is, is that what we call progress? If that's progress than progess sucks!
I agree. It seems as though buildings and houses are just built from cookie-cutter patterns these days and they have NO heart NO soul...NO love put into them. That is not progress...that is LAZINESS!!!!!
You said it all,Mama
:) I love looking at older homes even in this area I live it because they have so much character! I remember my grandma & grandpa's old house...it was big and full of nooks and crannies that a kid could explore, and it just had a homey feeling to it. Our house we live in now was built in the 1920's and it also has that "lived in, loved in" feeling...the previous owner (deceased) raised HER family here. :)
a fine piece of masonry right there
I am so glad they are goning to restore it and reuse it. There is so much history there.
Sure is beautiful stuff Motts, absolutely. With so much old school craftsmanship in this complex, it would be great to see it get rescued.
Very cool brick work! They don't make anything like they used to. Thanks for capturing it for us!!
