Damn! There isn't one bannister in the place. I bet they were either some beautiful hardwood or maybe intricate wraught iron that someone just had to steal.
I love the stone "railing" details on the second floor, and that the stone staircase can be walked under.
Yep someone must have really liked those banisters!
Looks like someone tried to write something vulgar, but didn't have enough columns.
AH HA! Proof that there WERE bannisters at one time. :D

This looks like a stairway belonging to a beach house in Malibu or somewhere rich like that. :)
Belongs somewhere else and not rotting away in the woods
Apparently there was a great banister heist at some time at this location. I've never seen anything like it. Motts, did you find ANY banisters anywhere?? lol
Eastern Germany faces some tough challenges. Looks like any metal salvage available was very welcome. I guess history doesn't mean much when one has an empty stomach.
Man, who was the genius that decided to paint over the brick details on the column corners.
Tough challenges, yes. But we've got a good social system, where everybody can get something to eat. People who steal that metal to sell it for scrap are not the homeless and hungry, but those idiots who never will get enough while acting without any thinking.
