A large portion of the hospital was a bit different - it resembled a psychiatric hospital, with mesh grates dividing the wards and bars affixed to the windows. Perhaps this was the section apportioned to the German army before it was completely overrun by military forces.

Maybe. Bars/mesh on windows...*shudders* that takes me back...
Isolation areas huh? POWs, shell-shocked soldiers, or anyone "disliked" for that matter. I wonder if any old timers in the area have any stories? I would think so.
