That roof looks so thick and heavy -- almost oppressive -- and then there are those lovely delicate panes of glass to let in the light. They must have been in constant need of cleaning. From this angle, it doesn't look like a very inviting place to sit.
how in gods name did they do that brick on the ceiling?
This place is built like a tank.
Ceilings of brick just amaze me.
Awesomely cool!
I've never seen ceilings/ verandas like that.
I'd hate to be walking along and have one of those bricks come loose and thump me in the head!
Look the tree is trying to get in!!
Nature is intruding
A flat wooden form was likely used to hold up the brick as it was laid, and then removed after the mortar had set. Interesting how they are not arched a bit like some brick ceilings are.
Looks like tiles instead of bricks, about 1/4 inch in depth.

Still not into the idea of them bouncing off my crainium
Looks like you'd either get clucked on the noggin by a falling brick or sliced by a falling sliver of glass! Nowhere safe to stand out there LOL
Love the colors and textures in this picture.
