Amazing architecture. The detail over the doors has an art deco feel.
I wonder why they built the door frames into the room by the width of each door, i.e. the doors are hinged about 32 inches away from the room walls. Maybe to prevent the doors from opening out into the corridor, while still opening outwards from the room. ?
Nice imprint in front of those doors.
The whole place has a bit of an Art Deco feel now that you mention it... The black tiles, the bricked diamonds on the exterior walls etc.
Nice color...makes me feel like I am underwater. :)
Good question BKW! As you, I'll guess the corridor was too narrow to have them open into it, but they still needed them to open that direction so PTs could not barricade themselves in.
