Okay, I don't like to say, "Hey, do you see the face in that window" 'cause it's a little cheesy, but.... hey, do you see that face in the middle top window?? I think it's damn creepy, even if it's an illusion

But seriously, you don't need permission to photograph this ruin, although you are not allowed behind the fence in the day and no where near the place at night.

Are we talking about the one in the lower left-hand corner that looks demonic? Sort of like the Scream character? Damn, it almost looks like its wearing a black hood or has long black hair. *shiver*

It is haunted from all of the stories i know of. See they never really list the complete history of these buildings, not only was it a small pox hospital but a TB hospital, and a Insane Asylum at one time. Al capone was sent there as well after he went crazy from Sypillhis

There is a hunched over figure in the big middle window as well. It looks like someone preparing to jump down.

Look at the bottom of the wide door or mwindow. A skeleton-like creature is struggling to get onn its feet. Also, to the left of the big lintel over the same opening is a tiny aperture with a skull-like face trying to emerge. (Shudder)

OK. I haven't heard from anyone about the boy(1st impression) sitting in the BOTTOM opening. Rigth smack dab in the middle of that opening, looks like his hands are in his lap! It's almost too clear!

You guys read into these pictures too much. One person says they see a face and they say where then all the rest of you let your imagination run and you make an entire character. I for one didn't see anything and I see something now but it doesn't look like a person or a demon. There's many logical explanations for this.

Sorry to cause any confusion, here...I, too know that it is all optical illusion. It's all about how you look at the picture. You can see faces, or people sitting, or, nothing. I consider it fun to look for the faces, or to find one, and point it out... It's still another amazing Motts pic.

Andrew, you are correct and I was incorrect...I was getting the Small pox hospital (pictured above) mixed in with the Octogon House (Asylum) which stands further north on the island, more near the Renwick lighthouse.

Sorry about that folks.. But Al Capone WAS treated for Syphllis at one of them.

Such a beautiful structure, reminds me of a castle. The peaked windows with the awesome crowning on the top of the structure, absolutely gorgeous. It's really sad to see such an amazing structure go to waste, however, in a strange way, it makes it more beautiful to have the ivy and such being slightly over grown around it. Just amazing. It's really too bad that they don't build them like this anymore. It truly is.
