Hall

Hall

The main generator room, which made up most of the building interior. These generators are connected to turbines at the bottom of the wheel pit, and were capable of producing 11,000 horsepower each (later upgraded to 12,500 hp).

Wow! Awesome GE generators! I could explore this place over & over and never get tired of seeing it.
Awesome.
This would be a good place to charge one's iphone.
It always amazes me how these industrial locations always are so HUGE!
And so full of big machinery
How tall are those generators Mr Motts? It`s hard to get an idea of the size of them. Awesome pictures as usual, and it`s neat to see some abandoned places closer to home.
Hm, tough to find a comparative image. I think my head reached the top of the words stamped into the housing. Here's a similar looking one with a human scale reference:

The one in the illustration might be a bit larger than the ones in this plant though.
Thank`s for the reply. It must be hard to keep all of these different locations straight in your mind. Opacity is the best! Keep up the excellent work!!
11,000HP!!! that is like 11 Bugatti Veyrons!
Or 89 Hyundai Sonatas. LOL
That is an awesome shot Mott's, I like the contrasting colors of the generators.
Makes me sad that electricity prices in my area are rising and then to see a power plant like this moth-balled. We have so much hydro power and wind power capability in this area (I am from Rochester) but it goes unused. They are also talking about adding a power plant at the upper falls in Rochester, NY. Although, I am sure the project will die because no one can agree on the best way.
