The sun began to rise over the tops of the neighboring buildings - it was incredible to watch.

Looks like most of the stained glass is still intact.
That is funny how most of the Churchs we see on this site, the stained glass windows are still unbroken?
Motts I would have loved to have experienced that moment.
It would never leave me.
The lighting is fantastic. Building is too beautiful to demo...it needs restoring!
It almost looks...Heavenly doesn't it? As for the stained glass windows being unbroken...I know personally I wouldn't want to break a church's window simply for the fear of what might happen to me as in karma. :D

This is simply fab.
At first glance, the peeling plaster above the 2nd arch on the left looks like a man holding a small child in his arms....or is it just me?
Spectacular architecture. The craftsmanship seen here is a lost art. Houses of worship today tend to strive for "mega-church" status with emphasis on tacky showmanship. This cathedral is large yet warm & inviting with it's stained glass and carved arches. It's a shame it's abandoned and unused.
Warm and welcoming.
Phiftybuick, I see what you are looking at. Even has that bent forward over the child look.

The soaring arches in this church are amazing. Such a shame to see what happens in unheated, untended buildings.
What a marvelous site and lovely Gothic architecture and I am very surprised as well that the stained glass is intact. My guess would be the extensive metal frame work used to hold all the different colored pains of glass together acts like a reinforcement for the pains. The weakest point in a window is the furthest point from the frame like the middle and the bigger the pain the weaker the window.
God welcomes you to His house, you will find peace, beauty and serenity here.
It should be restored. Thank heaven no one has stolen the stained glass windows. Five churches near my town have had all theirs stolen, left just empty window frames.!!
How cool is this?! I love it!! You can almost imagine a service going on at this angle. Its hard to imagine people used to come here and worship. The words that were spoken, the different walks of life that came here. Wow is all I have to say.
It's sad, quiet and sombre....it's a shame to see such grace in such condition
I think that I was the last baby to be baptized there on 12/31/41. It saddens me to see such architecture being torn down. Why does Europe have such beautiful buildings and here we tear down everything?
