Are these to the sides of the altar area?
Beautiful arched doorway, sure don't make them like that any more.
I like the perspective here.
What was that chest of drawers used for?
Maybe collection plates communion items incense ........
I love the door inside a door look of this. :D What a beautiful shot with the golden light and then the shadowy nooks and crannies. :)
I always liked the back areas of a church, with the narrow stairways and passages, and small rooms tucked away behind something else. It always made me feel like I was in another time for some reason.
Was anything in the drawers?
The chest looks like one of the chests priests use to keep their Stoles in. Leads me to believe this may be a shot looking out from the old sacristy.
I agree DaddyMedic
Are those "angelic angels" I see on the far wall ? (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
Most likely the drawers were part of a Sacristy, where the Presider prepared for services. Garments and other regularly used supplies are normally kept right off the alter in many Churches. Perhaps this explains the drawers, etc.
