HAHAHA...I remember these things from my childhood as I watched my mom getting ready to go out on yet another date. I associate these with old people...my apologies to anyone that is older than I am!! I don't mean it as an insult lol!
These bring back a lot of memories. My mom & sisters used these nightly. I never understood how they could sleep with those digging in their skulls. I guess beauty has it's price. Thanks for the memories Motts.
Amazing! Still look new. Dont even see any hair on them. Can you imagine how many times roller like these would be reused!? Wonder if head lice was a problem ?
Geez I slept in those things for years! After a while, the brushes wore down. And the hateful picks that held these in put dents in your head. What a flashback.
lol reminds me of my mom back in the day. lol. anyone notice the box says something about a motel? is that the box for the rollers?
I think it says "metal dispenser." I usually view this site magnified, and the word appears to be "metal" rather than "motel."
I remember those, back in the days.
My mother would wear them.
Also my grandmother.
Heellllpppp! This is even worse than the pic before - hideously scary!!!
Looks like prickly, little worms from outer space?
Awww, those brought back memories for me as well. I remember my grandmother using them. I miss her.
Anyway, how random that they are still there!
@Rekrats -Ahhhh yesss....that does make more sense. I would wanna stay here on a vacation, lol
Those things get SO stuck in your hair! 8-o. Tried them once, and almost had to cut one of them out. They DO NOT just neatly unroll from the hair, but, well, look at them. Just like Velcro! I'll take my curling iron any day. Hmmm. I do like these kinds of shots of everyday-life personal things, though, Motts.. Makes you remember humans "lived" in these hospitals. Can't really be called "living", really, but at least an effort was made to make it more like home for the residents, whom I'm sure would rather have been somewhere else :-S.
I remember getting into roller wars with my older brothers. We would hum those at each other and they hurt like hell when they hit your skin. Wow I had a really messed up family
LOL Joe...me and my brother used to shoot underwear at each other since our rooms were almost right across from one another. We got put in time out (in our rooms) for fighting, so we used to sit in the doorway and flick things at each other. Some of the things HURT lol!!!
ewww they still have hair in them.gross!
Uhmm, wow..?? At least the current ones are all plastic with clips or magnets and a person only needs to put up with it for 1/2 hour in the salon! I would not have slept well at all with a headful of that junk.
Props that never got used. Used to make the old "hair salon" trick look more convincing. After the lobotomy, they didn't care if they had hair, much less curls.
yea, these totally got tangled in your hair, my mother would always try to curl my and my sisters stick straight hair - i remember trying to sleep with them digging into my head; can still feel it----OW! and if you tried to pull them out by your little self you tore hair out of your head, I imagine the residents would get fixed up for visiting days only
