Wow. Now that is one old door. This is almost an optical illusion...it sort of looks like the door is in FRONT of the wall instead of flush with it.

when I was looking for a house, I looked at a house that was 120 years old and it had the same keyholes. Must have been the style back then
Its a keyhole for a skeleton key.
