Why the lights are on ??
no graffiti no trash no water damage and lights work how long has this place been empty
The place has only been abandoned for about a year, I think.
was the hospital abandoned longer? the prison seems to be in great shape in comparision
Yes, the psychiatric center closed in 1993, and the prison was shut down in 2003.
If this place is abandoned why are the utilities and electricity still working? Even a year's worth of electricity is expensive. Why doesn't the state just cut of electricity. It'd save a lot of money.
Probably to keep vagrants and people like me out... it looked like they were setting up an alarm system at the time though, and the heat also might be kept on in the winter to prevent deterioration.
what a waste..
Perhaps they could use this for a youth center for indoor sports? Do something that makes economic sense and also reduce the prison population by keeping the kids doing something positive.
The lights are on for what reason? This gymnasium is pretty damn shiny.
The power could be on fur heating purposes, to keep damp out. We are keeping radiators on constant in an old apartment we are selling, to keep it dry.
Hopefully they'll do something with this place and not let it deteriorate like the others.
Looks like a high school gym
i guess this building hasn't been closed down long
this place could be put to a lot better use!
local kids would love it.
Keeping power on keeps people out, reduces street mining and keeps the ventilation system working. It's cheaper in the long run then letting it deteriorate and having to fix it up later.
This looks identical to my highschool gym, the same color pads on the walls and everything.
This is the third photograph with clean floors. Were these photographs taken very soon after this building was closed down ?

Motts u have the ultimate job jetting here and there -the architecture on the whole site is GREAT- makes me jealous
yeah whats up with the lights
riverside high school gym..this sight is a lie
I love basketball
This looks exactly like my Elementary school gymnasium.
I was thinking the same. It's so eerie. You'd never guess this place was abandoned.
