I had a set of stairs similar to that in an apartment I lived in once, had to bring the furniture in through the fire escape.

If this place is to be torn down, I wonder how one could possibly purchace some or all of the staircase sections. What a cool way to access a tree fort for my daughter!!! Any thoughts?

this was the stairs up to the top of a towere. When you reported for work in the towere, you arrived at a door outside the wall. The guard on duty would lower a key on a string, and you'd open the door and go up. The other guy would leave and you'd reverse the procedure.
(high tech stuff in 1975)
