Sobering sight. Beautiful photography.
I am now in Sing Sing.
Kinda reminds me of that scene in American History X when Edward Norton steps out of his cell and realises he's the only white guy on the block.
imagine the spirits roaming this place
Yeah, eldokid. I wonder how many poor souls died here, only to have their spirits roaming this place for all time.

I love this shot! It really makes you FEEL like you are behind these bars.
Wow, great shot. Looks to be in very good condition, no ceilings falling in, etc. Amazing for a 101 year old building.
I can just hear those bars closing...Can you just imagine your first night there!?
kinda sobering now ain't it ?
home sweet home
imagine how many toothbrushes were sharped on that floor lol (not really funny)
Not a place I would want to spend any time in!! Very depressing.
It looks pretty compact. Are prisons really this small?
@coco

Yes. But this is just one block of cells. There are probably more in tiers.
The dead zombie prisoners are still there, but they don't exactly chase people for their brains. That's not the end they want.
what do they want autoguy??
For a first timer, the sight of the long row of cells would really raise the spincter factor.
The school of hard knocks.
So many riots has happened at this prison through out the years. Like in 1983, a riot happened that injured 8 guards. A Muslim riot happened here in 1962 A terrible riot happened in 1974, it was sooo bad, that inmates took people hostage. Fires also happened here in 1983, and 1986. The fires in 1986 were sooo bad according to the news article. It damaged 14 buildings, it also destroyed 5 of them. I mean wow this prison has a huge history. Probably more then what I have been saying on here.
Imagine accidentally getting locked in a cell!
I worked "behind the wall" for 12 months in 1975. It was an intersting place, full of many different personalities. It was an experience not to be forgotten.
i feel like being in a place like this its like a complete void....every minute of your life elongated like time is never going to pass by, its really freaky to think that some people lived everyday of their lives in there :(
