Dust

Dust

The wheelchair shop was completely dark, so a flashlight was needed to light the highly customized machinery.

how many disabilities would a person have to have to need a chair like this? so sad
My friend was quadriplegic so couldn't hold himself up at all, he needed all the straps and bars to keep him sitting upright. As sad as it looks, his chair (which was super funky electric do everything cool) let him get up and around - he could go 'for a walk' outside. The alternative is starring at a ceiling.
You are right, people who are paralyzed or have other muscle defects would be glad to have something like this.So much better than starring at the ceiling
That is one high tech chair. I would think paralysis to need one like this or profound retardation where they could not control their body.
Friggin complicated, Has to be German engineering.
That is on heck of a freaky chair!!!
Again my heart goes out to those who were here.
Those this chair and others was made for.
That's a creepy looking chair. I hope it was helpful.
To see it in use was probably not creepy at all...and would be extremely helpful I would imagine for someone who can not hold themselves up well...

But to see this empty is just...AAH!! Looks like a torture device from the Medevial days!
This is an excellent shot Motts. Cant help but wonder why this hospital has soooo many wheelchairs left behind. Didnt these patients need them when they left or the place closed its doors?
looks like chitty chitty bang bang
Any electric battery powered wheel chairs in this place??
Please don't think me a horrible person, but my first thought was "Hannibal Lector's wheelchair". Honestly, it looks like the thing they strapped him in for transport.

I'm going to go look at the rest of these awesome pics, then banish myself to the creepy dark hall about 3-4 pics back.
