Troy Mercury Junior

Troy Mercury Junior

I was unable to pull dates off the equipment; this iron (?) was manufactured by American Machine and Metals, which started in 1930 and changed to AMETEK, Inc. in the early 1960s. It consisted of the Troy Laundry Machinery Company.

thats gotta be worth a ton of money to a antique dealer
how awesome!!
What a very cool piece of machinery.
Junior?

I take it, the Senior one took a small crew of 6 to 8 men to operate?
Where's it's parents then?
I love it.
It looks way older than 1930's, wow!
Check out the small area of peeling paint next to this gizmo. It must have put out a lot of steam.
Used to be called a 'sleeve press', although it could be used for any small article of clothing / fabric. I've seen these devices in garment factories in the US up until about 1980, so they've been around a while.
In this clothing store I worked at in the late 70's, the alteration department had all kinds of steamers and industrial strength irons that were even hooked up to constant water supplys like an automatic ice maker. Anyway, those freaking irons put out so much steam that in the winter time they didn't even have to heat that department, they let the irons do it!
hot hot hot
AW..a little orphan press looking for his Mama....

This must be worth a TON of money! I wonder wny they just left it there to ... rot?
Take it to pawn stars!
Housework was baddass back then. I bet our grannies would mow us down in a fight.

The paint peels look like a mosaic here.
The history of ametek can be found here http://www.fundinguniv...Company-History.html . Interestingly the American Machine and Metals, Inc in E. Moline, Ill. (which was later renamed Ametek) is also listed as a Department of Energy legacy site where nuclear remediation was done.
