Open Sesame

Open Sesame

The curtained windows and tiled basement walls brought back memories of the chapel at Byberry; I wonder if it was used for the same purpose.

Hard to say what it was used for, could be anything?
Wow another gallery!
The bright blue adds life to this shot. Was there another section of this large room on the other side of the accordion doors?
Whoopieee!! A new allary, just when I am feeling down in the dumps! This will cheer me up! :) I love the colors in this. It reminds me more of a school hallway than a hospital though. Tres WEIRD, Motts!
"Gallary that is...sheesh. My fingers don't want to work.
Looks very "un-Norwich" like. Definitely a different era & architecture. Thanks for the new gallery Motts. I spend most of my time on this site. Love it.
Yes!
That looks like a school cafeteria.
Wow, a Sunday surprise - a new Gallery. Made my day. Wonderful. Thanks Motts.
Love the new gallery , Motts!! Makes my day too!!!
Me thinks it was for hospital beds as I can see along the walls what seems to be a place to hook up oxygen in those small boxes
did you find a headless Mary there too?
It's amazing how clean this place is, how not trashed it is even though these images were shot 10 years after the facility was closed.
A new gallery! This just made my night.
Great to see a new gallery! Very modern looking and in great condition!
For some reason, this shot looks like it was from an airport.. I can just see rushing down this hallway to a gate to wait for 2 hours in uncomfortable seats for my flight.. lol
Very cool!
it does look very ordinary, but as you said, interesting too, and in good shape... nice shot
WOW, Byberry must have really made an impression on you. I helped clear the buildings while it was being demolished. That's where I got my interest in abandoned State facilities.
I just watched Session 9 and it made me think of this place. I was stationed at the submarine base in Groton, CN in 2004, about 10 mins or so down the road. I still remember the first time I drove by this hospital. I could not believe how big the grounds were. It's a shame that it is being torn down. I made friends with one of the security guards and he showed me around the grounds and even went in many of the buildings. I never viewed this place as scary, but I always got a sad and lonely feeling.
It looks like it could even be a dual-purpose gymnasium/ cafeteria...
