Doesn't look like there is any room to get to those seats ?
Thanks for the wallpaper! Pretty narrow passage along the walls I guess ferdy.
Well I couldn't fit my fat butt in those seats...

This is really a pretty shot though! I can almost hear the sounds of a play going on...the echos of maybe not-so-bad-times. :)
Downright depressing, especially in comparison to that magnificent theater in the other building. Who puts a theater in a basement?? Great photograph, though, as always.
Strange that the theater is tiled
Nice wallpaper.
So antiseptic.
Yes, strange that the theatre is tiled. I wouldn't want to have a fire drill in there either, there is no room to move or exit.
Incredible photography. This theater wouldn't pass fire codes in Florida, but it's a nice shot.
are the windows tinted on the left side?
Except for the number of seats in it, i have the feeling I'm seeing one of those rooms in which the capital punishment becomes a reality. Specially because of the tiles... Doesn't look like a theatre to me.. Go figure.
There is something un-utterably creepy about tile on WALLS!! Yes, I get that they're non-porous, sanitary and easy to clean, blah, blah, blah... but the tiled walls in these places alone would drive me UP them!! This looks like a bunch of theater seats installed in the bottom of an empty swimming pool. Even the color. Bizarre is the only word that comes to mind.
I would be afraid to sit in that theather. Its like the weight of the place is above your head. I dont know I just think it would freak me out!
Well, i guess i will add this, since others found the tiles as strange as i did in this theater. My first thought was did they ever hose down the audience ?? Wow!
awesome perspective! For some reason thistheatre reminds me of a swimming pool. its the tiles, I tell ya!
Too long and narrow, I wouldnt want to sit all the way in the back. I also think its strange that the theater is tiled. Isnt there any place in this building that isnt tiled?
Those ceiling tiles don't look safe at all!!!
So,
How often do you think they did hose out the theater?
If it were arranged differently I'd say the tiling suggests a viewing room for a surgical suite or lecture hall. Wasn't there another gallery with a round viewing auditorium that had tiny tiles all over?

I agree this looks like a swimming pool. It could be re-purposed, originally designed as such and then they didn't need it and as it was the basement having been built first it was just adapted to meet needs?
That thing that really strikes me about this is how narrow the place looks. It just looks like it was shoehorned in.
I'd hope they never had to evacuate that place in a hurry. There's barely any room to move along the walls... it would have been a crush of people.
I work with theater technology, and I have worked in many theaters. This was probably just a small auditorium or lectures or even small shows. The other theater was probably for more elaborate productions.

Also, those seats look really uncomfortable. >(
I am extremely claustropobic, so this would NEVER do.
looks new! by the way.... where is "me"
I would also be afraid to sit in this theater. Look at how the seating is arranged. The seats are lined up straight., not like in between seats, if you know what Im talking about.. I probably couldn't have seen the screen with many heads in front of me..
I would sat that the tile would play hell with the acoustics. Echos at least....
It's nice how the televisions on the left are in a row with the windows on the right.
This has to have been built originally as a swimming pool - tiles on the sides and the far end, presumably behind us too? Strikes me they decided that swimming was a no-go and then the next easiest choice was to turn it into a theatre??
