The words "Walters Building" are above the entrance in the shadow of the portico. It was interesting to see the boards had been notched out to fit the keystones above each window.

I can see something looking out the top window second from right..
Nah, I enlarged and enhanced it. No ghost.
Pity.
Oh yeah! New post. I feel like it's my birthday & Christmas all in one! Creepy photo.
Oooooo! looks very inviting! Right behind you :)
NIce shot Motts. As usual. I was so excited to see a new post up!! Makes me happy esp since I'm on vacation this week!!!
Mr. Motts, thanks for the new gallery. What is the dark outline around the center window?
I'm not really sure, it looks like water saturation or mold / rot. Perhaps the stone around the window is porous...
Almost looks like someone has removed bricks to remove the window?
Hey Motts--- Great set coming from my home town- I drive near this location everyday to get to work. I think there used to be more worker's homes (a complete neighborhood) around the complex, but from what I understand they tore them down a few years ago. Great set as usual and appreciate your work.
Hey motts, I don't know if you remember me, but I was the one who suggested you check out that abandoned school in Jacksonville, Florida. I was just wondering if youv'e been to Florida since then? lol Keep up the great work btw, I'm hoping to photograph buildings as a career. You are an inspiration to many. :)
I haven't headed down to FL yet, but hope to soon - thanks!
Yay a set where I can say I've been at the site!! Awesome set!!
the original name of the building was the Orleans building. It was changed in the late 80's or early 90's.
Interesting, I wonder why they changed it. Any idea what year it closed? I was guessing during the mid-1990s.
Here's a post of an ex-employee likening the conditions in the Orleans / Walters Building to the bedlam at Byberry:
http://markhamsbehavio...d-in-horrifying.html
There's something about a boarded up building that gives one a feeling of melancholy. It's as if it's been declared dead, void of life & activity. Granted, structures are boarded in an attempt to preserve the interior from the elements. But to me, it reads like an obituary.
wow, i just read the post from the ex-employee. thats sad
Read the ex-employee post---absolutely horrifying!
