Resentment

It reads, "Shithole! I want to live!" and some unreadable text.

Wow that does give one chills. Someone was not happy there...
"Out of the depths I cry to you ..."
The defiance of the human spirit.
And they probably weren't the only ones, either?
ow my!!! its really time to quit with this unholy habit of inprison everyone who is just 'different'!!! mankind still need to grow up!
I felt that way about my marriage!
I wonder if the paint was peeling like that when the place was last used.
That's sad. . .

Was it painted over, or did it look newer?
fantasize about this makes me crazy
very insightful
Doubtful that if this had been carved by an actual patient, it would have been allowed to remain on the wall. Maintenance staff would have been immediately asked to paint/plaster over it.
I can imagine a severely underfunded and understaffed institution leaving these things on the wall, or not bothering to repair it if the building was being shuttered. I'm not sure who else would take the time to carve stuff into a wall in a pitch black room...
How long would it take paint to peel like that? It was clearly scratched in before the paint peeled. I mean.. would the place have been closed long enough, with enough time for some troublemaker to scratch it in?

Seems like it could be legit to me.
A former patient is giving you a glimpse of how he was treated.
