The multitude of colors is really neat.
Wonder if they had pinsetters?
O.M.G. this is the allwy from a dream I once had.

Now THAT is freaky. I think my heart just stopped a moment.

Whoa.
lol... bowling alley dreams? inneresting...
Bowling alley, multiple theaters, roller rink? This place had more culture than my hometown. Don't think I'd want to trade, though.
Well, that's unexpected!
Looks pretty clean
Well how bout that!
What's next a roller rink?
or maybe a boxing ring? or paintball?
Candlepin Bowling. Unless your from the Northeast you more than likely don't know what this is. Love it.
OOH OOHHH! I know what Candlepin Bowling is!!

Never played it but I know what it is! (I am from Scranton PA)

And yes...this was in my dream, though I don't quite remember the details since it WAS a while ago. I just know that I was in some kind of institution and as a daytrip we went bowlng and the lanes are DEAD on to this one. Kind of ironic that this picture is IN an institution isn't it?

Thank you Motts for bringing my nightmare alive. :) Good eye though!
Anybody wants to go bowling with me i am up to it. I love bowling.
Must have been a hell of an echo in there.
Now, the only thing as creepy as WALL tile is exposed pipes painted to "blend in" with the wall. Always makes me think of the building's "guts" being visible, like the rooms are inside out...shudder....
note....no human pinsetters at the end of the lanes. They must have went home
Debbie, I'll go bowling with you. Those pipes are kind of creepy!
A few years ago I posted photos of the hospital from 1957 on the forums.

Here's what this particular alley looked like back then. They used regular 10 pins with pinsetters.

Actually, I should look at the picture before I post ... this looks like duckpin, which is popular in our state.
was there a ball there ? if so i would have so rolled it down the lane
Awsome JackieB! I can't wait to meet you soon.
Debbie, I cant wait either. I wish we could find an abandoned bowling alley!
Dang...they just knocked one down not a mile from me to build a frlippin Walgreens...and right across the street is a CVS and just behind it there is a Giant Food Mart with...yep...A FULL PHARMACY. Are people stupid or what?

Can I come bowling too?? PLEASE?? I have a LOT of bowling trophies from my youth. :)
62special, I live near a duckpin bowling alley. Thought I'd share, I live in CT. :)
Me too! JackieB. You seem a very very nice guy to meet someday.
Definely duckpin...check out the balls. No finger holes.
Wow! That's awesome!
Looks like we may have a romantic interlude brewing in abandoned hospitals. Finally somebody said "duckpin". Gotta be on your toes to set pins! Folks used to roll coins down the allies to tip the pinsetters.
Yep, duckpin with the little balls - what a 'wicked' treat to see a shot from '57. We live extremely close to Norwich (Escoheag, RI). Norwich is STEEPED in old - vibes galore and photo ops to 'the max'.
