I think they just rolled up against those pedestals, which may have served as a "desk" for keeping score.

That sure is bright! Can you imagine one of those balls accidentally falling off that return-thing and falling on your foot as you waited for it?

(That happened to me once! LOL!)

Something about the yellow and the green in this photo that makes me think of spring...

It is like 4 degrees F out there now so 45 F would be warm!
