These beautiful terraces provided plenty of sunlight and fresh air to TB patients on the ward. Each pavilion building also had intricate terra-cotta tile mosaics along the roof line - one of the most impressive architectural embellishments I've ever seen at an abandoned hospital.

Oh beautiful tile work.
So different than today's architecture.
What a lovely old Terrace! Beautiful even now. Wonderful tile and seashell decor.
I was in a residential treatment center in new mexico. It was a TB hospital abandond long before the school was there. Most of the buildings are the original buildings and this looks surprisingly similar to it.
from just the glance at the full gallery I can see that the tile work is going to grab me. GREAT light, motts.
What a neat place!
is that the remnant of an old atrium roof?
Were these wide enough for them to roll the beds out? Or did they sit out there. The doors look wide enough to move beds. Gorgeous.
wow they really knew how to build them back then. Nowadays the construction is pure crap
Even in this state of decay they're beautiful
Yes - beds were definitely wheeled out through the two sets of double doors for fresh air treatments.
Roof line reminds me of an old rail road depot.
Even though this TB Hospital is different in color & look so far. It does follow Waverly Hills with the outside terraces for pts to be wheeled out on.....cool. Its interesting that they thought this would help pts with TB.
I like this place already!
Krow-
Where in NM was that TB hospital (Generally speaking.....of course!)
This looks much older than 1909. I'm not really sure why.
Absolutely beautiful colours, wouldnt mind having this as a background...
I agree it looks almost victorian
Very nice picture. I can only imagine what it looked like in the hospital's hey day.
I have always loved this place. I'm glad to see more photos.
Hey Lynne I read ur thing on the crib picture and I have to say thank you, I often end up in these places. People need to know that funding is getting bad for institution such as for Rainbow (State Hospital). Rainbow just closed down one of the patient wings, and our gov. does not care I try to speak out cause I, myself end up in these places and when I go I want to make sure that none of the past histories don't repeat itself.
