Shells

Shells

The theme was nautical, due to the location of the hospital near the sea for fresh-air treatments. A row of hearts created a border along the bottom of the murals.

Nice colour contrasts
This is absolutely beautiful.
What beautiful artwork.
It adds something to a building's design.
That's almost tacky, but it made me smile.

I love how vibrant it still is.
My wife would love to have those shells!
If it looks this nice now, can you just imagine what it looked like when it was new. Wonderful!.
:) yep. I knew that tile love was coming!:)
I like the stars and stripes medalion.
Stunning colors.
unbelievable craftsmanship! you don't see that anymore.
amazing!
Wow what amazing details.
Its amazing that it has retained its color all these years.
So many things to see, really very busy.
I love it!
It 's nice to see that they have lasted this long.....and not broken into small pieces with all the vandels out there. Its very very colorful. I also like the stars and strips too.
Its nice to see that people actually thought about making the this a nice place to stay for the patients. Now days its seems like most hosiptals are so plain because its easy to care for. I wish we had more craftmanship like this today
Beautiful colors and textures and in great condition for being abandoned so long
lush !
Actually it has nothing to do with the proximity to the sea. Mojolica, as well as a few other major manufacturers of ceramic tile used the shell theme. There are such tiles in the old apartment building down the street from where I live. Very far from any sea.
In Greek and Roman mythology, the shell stood for prosperity and regeneration. It has also been used as a symbol for baptism.
rather fancy, considering this was a tb ward
This is beautiful! I love the shell and heart motifs. Making the surrounding pleasant for the patients is very therapeutic. I'm sure the sea air was conducive to health benefits as well. I love the ocean-side! : )
Stunning, it's ashame that you don't see this anymore. I love the shells and the hearts are lovely
Spectacular pic. No doubt about it.
Oooooh this is really eye catching! :D
I love that turquoise color.
That is how I'd love my bathroom to be done!
looks like water should be running down the front of this...i like it
Thank you Mr. Mott for your dedication and very hard work, and then sharing this, taking me to places so beautifully amazing, could never visit. This is wonderful: your perfect eye for details. May you always be well to keep up this mission. It is important work you are doing.
Its actually quite ugly but the fact that its so intact is amazing.
