Main Entrance

Main Entrance

I think this was the main entrance, it hard to tell when everything's sealed and overgrown. It says, "1937 Childrens Hospital", which was strange, most of the equipment in here was adult-sized. It may have started as one, then converted to help the mostly elderly TB population.

I like the "Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works" on top. I wonder if it was a pre-cursor to FEMA. Either way, this is a great find! Love the relatively intact lettering on the marble background.
Maybe they grew up in the hospital?
P.S. - murphy, you wrote on my birthday
Is that Fiorello Laguardia, Mayor?
