I love the new gallery, Motts. Thank you once again for your hard work and dedication to the preservation of these old treasures through your talented photography.

You.... ROCK.
how is it that you make gutted buildings look so warm and inviting. it's neat to get to see your vision, thank you!
There is no way I would walk down this hall, oh wait, on second thought I suppose I would have to just to see what was at the other end.
Would love to have a wallpaper of this as well, looks like something out of Silent Hill!
Love the gallery. Keep them coming!
good gallery, this is my favorite pic. thanks
wow , this shot is amazing ,the level of destruction is scarry.,great new set ,thank you.
Mr. Motts, Sri - I notice that a lot of your galleries were shot in 2005 but posted at a later date (some years later). Did you spend most of that year traveling and photographing? So many of these galleries have that date, it's hard to imagine that you did any thing else. I guess I'm just jealous. I would love to take a year off from whatever it is I do, to go around and visit these places to capture them before they are demolished. But I guess for now, I will leave that to you (since you ARE the best at it!)
that was supposed to be SIR after Motts. Sorry.
Another building well documented Motts - great work as usual!
23rd!

I read the title and saw it as a mine shaft at first glance.

Thanks again
Thank you for another awesome wonderful trip! Must get tiring dragging all of us with you on all your travels lol. You rock!
It's weird you posted this when you did, I was just there yesterday.
Another building well documented Motts - great work as usual!
Thanks Motts for another wonderful Gallery to see.
Another awesome set. Thx Motts!
Wallpaper added!
SILENT HILL!!!!
Thnx again Motts! Love all the great history and extra historical ads and photos you added to this one. Too bad that squad was lurking around on this shoot to limit the outdoor shots, and maybe some shots of the old cottages.
all kinds of awesome!
FANTASTIC!
More hotels!
Looks like a scene out of the game F.E.A.R
@Razor512
No it doesnt.

As for the shot, I suspect fire damage?
Anyway, its my wallpaper now :p
that place is creepy
ive never traveld here to see the site even though i live within 30 miles of it. However, i have seen videos of the "hotel" as my previous job was taking care of mentally disabled people. Some of my consumers were actually patients here when it was the asylum and they were tortured. The videos we had to watch depicted a scary, awful place, nothing like what has been captured with your photographs!
Great gallery. Beautiful shot, looks almost like a barn with stalls. Thanks Mr. Motts.
Another wonderful set of shots. My eyebrows went up when I came upon this location, and read that it was known as the Physical Culture Hotel, owned and operated by the same man who headed PC magazine. Instant recognition to an antiques dealer/ hopeless collector such as myself! I ran to my old mag collection, dug out a Sept. 1937 issue of said mag, and flipped through hoping to find an ad for this place. Sure enough, near the back is a half-page ad almost completely devoid of graphics detailing two happy clients' accounts of their stays here and why they promised to return: "A Physical Culture vacation is the best I can imagine for a business woman. I will return home feeling on top of the world and not in need of a vacation to 'rest up'- as is needed after a vacation wherein one must rush, rush, rush, eat wrong food, and generally tear down one's health. I expect to spend many more vacations at P.C.H."...says a Miss Dorothy Sloan. And, apparently, a Mr. Frank M. Kenney "agrees 100%"! Hehe... just an interesting extra tidbit for whoever's wanting more:)
The Travel Channel has shot this location for a show called "Off Limits". The episode is supposed to air in June of 2011. Info on this program can be seen on the TTC web site, and it is set to premier in May of 2011. The production of such a series makes me question the impact that widely publicizing these locations will have.
Beautiful photos, it's a shame time and vandals have taken their toll.
Motts,
When are you planning on revisiting? Observing the pictures of the grounds in the old photos makes me want to go and take some pics of the surrounding area. I agree that it probably would have been a more impressive shoot.
Not sure when I'd be in Dansville again.... who knows!
