Inside the lowest portion of a rounded room; these rooms without corners were thought to have helped prevent the spread of disease at the time of construction.

Once constructed to help stop the spread disease, Wow! no telling whats lurking in there now!
Very interesting. Was this supposed to facilitate better airflow or something? No idea.
No idea what they were thinking back then, but maybe someone in the future will see they were right.
Jinkies !!!
Hey my kind of room - no corners to clean.
Roh Roh Scrabby! ( as i Scooby Doo & Shaggy) hehehehe I am slap happy tonight! :)

perhaps a four foot tall sandwich would help.
and there's always the treat deluxe, the scooby snack.
I can only imagine what diseases are growing in there now!
Oooo, I've always wanted a round room, lol!
I like the light play going on.

I think the idea of a rounded room preventing disease is strange, too.
Germs with no corners had not yet evolved.
If the room's ability to stop the spread of mold is any testament to its ability to stop the spread of disease... I'm thinking that didn't work out so well for them.
A D you are making me so hungry!!!!!!! Roh-Roh! :)
That's a very interesting theory; no corners to capture , well, whatever. (Germs, bad luck, etc.) ;)
There's a really old house like that in my neighbourhood with the circled shapes. We call it the castle house ;p
round and round she goes...where she stops nobody knows
Interesting photo. The round construction could be to keep people from peeing in the corners.
Good one Greg. Motts, was this natural light or did you use flashlights?
I think the misconception was: no corners, no place for dust to collect...
Q: How do you drive a drummer crazy?

A: Put him in this room, and tell him to stand in the corner!
