Dust

Dust

The second floor was missing in some places... the thick dust had created a cloud that could only be captured by the light streaming into the cracks and holes in the plywood boards that covered the windows.

Looks like one of those 1980's laser-plane effects.
Awesome job capturing the dust effects. What an interesting atmosphere this place must have had with this sort of sharp lighting.
Even though the light and the dust presented a challenge, i think the pic came out amazingly well and very interesting with the cloud above.
Amazing photo, really like it, just waiting for the ghost posts
Motts I would be scared silly walking around there.
I tip my hat to you.
or cap, :)
Very cool!
Nifty for sure!!! Like this one Motts.
This is perfect! The lighting is awesome . Gotta give you credit for walking on those floors!
Very interesting shot! I hope you weren't breathing in too deeply!
fan bloody tastic!
My favorite "Motts" topic are the missing / collapsed floors. LOVE IT!
Is that a ghost, Motts? LOL, just kidding!!! (I know how you feel about ghosts, or lack thereof.) I hope you had a mask on. The dust makes a beautiful picture but I am sure it's not great in the lungs!
Yeah the floor missing would scare me ......I give Motts tons of credit for going to these places but the pictures are worth it. Just be careful ok....
Wonderful composition Motts. I really like the decay of the ceiling and the absence of floor - it looks like a nightmarish reflection. The dust looks like fog. :-) You definitely have a gift!
I agree with blue lamp, be very careful Motts. We care about you!
This photo is amazing!
a blanket of light to shade the darkness.
surreal feeling!
Hoho that's coool!
yikes. I'm going to fall into that when I go to sleep tonight. :(
It's like the building has its own little cloud.
This is almost ethereal...

Like the ghosts of people past still wandering around, oblivious to the many many decades passing by them...

Okay I know this wasn't a ghost but still...that is what I though of.
Very surreal. I would be mesmerized by the dust cloud and walk right into the gaping hole.
I've been a fan of Motts' work and opacity.us for a few years but I've never commented on any pictures. In fact, this site was what taught me that I wasn't the only person fascinated with the abandoned, forgotten, and decaying. But having just stumbled upon this one, I really can't hold back. This is stunning. How lucky were you to catch these beams of light at precisely the right time to capture this amazing effect. Awesome job!
Agreed, agreed!
