I like the alternating colors. Transoms are always cool. And we know where the radiators are that used to be behind the guards.
Like the door thats different than the rest down the hall, a seclusion room by the looks of the window.
Maybe it is considered a hospital;,but looks more like a prison?
more like the stuff of nightmares to me.
Just think all the people that used to be here...this was home....its sad too.....really....very sad.....
whats with the small metal cages in the rooms?
They were covers for the cast iron radiators, so residents wouldn't burn themselves.
That one almost looks like a bicycle rack- love the transoms!!
Amazing how few paint flakes are actually on the floor, considering the peeling on the walls and ceilings.
I wonder if someone came in and cleaned the peeling paint off the floors
Just so unique, I have never seen anything like it! :)
I notice the lack of any lighting fixtures on the ceiling, how did they light this place?
There were a few milk glass fixtures from the old days, however most of the lighting was replaced with fluorescent fixtures. Many of these may have been salvaged for replacements in other buildings.
These places look so much better without the fluorescent lighting. Can you imagine the old asylums back in the 1800's before electricity when they were lit with candles and gas lamps? Cool!
I wonder why the doors are so abnormally wide, or is that the angle?
these doors actually have knobs on them...
This picture is so a-peel-ing...........I think I've used that before somewhere on this site......
Nice photo
Doesn't it seem strange that the radiator covers were made of metal? You would think they would get pretty warm...
I was thinking the same thing LOL. You would think the metal covers over the radiators would get pretty hot themselves, so kind of defeating the purpose?
I dont get it. Where did the radiators go? Seems hard for someone to steal something thats caged in
They could have been salvaged by the hospital for scrap or for re-use in another old building (surplus). These cages could probably be removed easily with the correct tools.
