Nice! Still in really great condition.
It looks like it could still be operational! I say salvage it! Because God knows these places are being bulldozed faster than you can snap a photograph 'eh Motts?
I can hear that horrible dentist drill revving near
my head.
Not vandalized, smashed, spray painted...ready for use again!
Looks like someone got the chair?
My hubby who services Dental equipment for a living says this unit is from the 50's. The color is "cream white". Several things have been done to it to update it. It has been converted to an air driven drill rather then a belt driven one which it was originally. The acorn appearing structure with the different color in the middle of the 2 acorn caps is what drove the belt. The arm that the top part of the belt connected to has been removed. The belt driven drills are the ones that make all the noise. The suction has been updated. You can see the opaque plastic container connedted to the upright arm. He says that he has actually worked on units like this.
That unit reminds me of when I was a kid and went to the dentist. I remember having to spit in that little porcelain sink. Seeing this photo, I can even remember the smell that his office had. Wow! I'd like one of these in my rumpus room so guests can say "what the heck is that?"
An evil torture device to inflict pain and agony upon innocent victims.
"is it safe" - the Marathon Man
I haven't seen a "spit bowl" in years! At our facility we just sold a dental cabinet that matches the one in back in color, but it was a different style.
I remember those old belt driven drills. My grandfather had a portable one that he brought home when he retired. It came handy on many projects.
Torture device, perhaps?
Yipes! brings back awful memories!
lol! i need one of these for my 14 yr old!!! think it'd keep him clean?
When I was a kid my dentist used one of these. They're from the late 70's, 80's no?
Although the internal wiring of this device has advanced throughout the years, what is now used currently maintains much of that structure. What I wouldn't give to tag along sometime.
EEEEEEERG...my teeth hurt just from looking at this...
I can hear that dreaded high-pitched whine of the drill...

AAAAAH!!!!!
Ugh i can hardly imagine all the suffering that was in that room! IM terrified of the dentist
I love the (apparent) dental poster in the background in the door of the cabinet. Looks old.
Just think of sitting in that chair with no novicane because some highly intelegent people thought that mentally chalenged people don't feel pain as we do. Having your teeth pulled out that way. Sucks don't it.
