How twisted and torn they are, all tossed about like someone with at sleep disorder!
Would not want to be the person in that corner bed. Is that brick along the base under the windows or is that the heating?
Looks like heating to me and the matresses look like horse hair stuffed to me?
Yup, old heating pipes ran along the walls, and the mattresses were stuffed with horsehair.
Slumber Party time.
Its my guess that horse hair would also be highly flammable..
excuse me, my bed smells funny
Did you wet your bed, Joe??? lol
If I had to spend the night in a place like this I probably would wet the bed!
Canada if you spent the night in there you would probably see and here some strange things.
I like this mildewy smell round my pillow at midnight .
When was this place abandoned? The beds look ancient. And I can't even remember when mattresses were stuffed with horsehair. These beds would have been torture to a nurse's back. Great picture Motts as always. Thanks for exploring the places I will never see.
spooky,Motts :-o thanx for the loan of your eyes to see this.Just got a shiver imagining being jokingly handcuffed to the heating pipes & left there, just as the suns going down (:-o
The hospital was closed proper in 1996, however some of these buildings were closed for quite some time before then, I would guess sometime in the 1970s-1980s.
Metal bedding traffic jam!
The beds seem to be conversing, and ready to quickly arange themselves in neat rows at the sound of approaching foot steps.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but, Mr. Motts, are you standing on one of those beds? Haha.
Yup!
great perspective
Maybe at that time they hospital didnt have a good fund and needed those beds and mattresses who knows....
Motts. Do you go it alone on your explorations or do you ever invite/bring along others?
I go alone once in a blue moon; usually there's a trusted friend or two with me.
Thank you for these pictures Mott. I just found out that my Grandfather was a patient here through the 1950's until he died (before I was born). It was all very hush hush and I am finally discovering the sad history that took place. I know very little as to why he was committed. I truly appreciate your pictures, they give me some sense as to what the place was like. You have a great gift for finding the beauty within the rubble.
Wow...Great shot!

It looks like the beds are getting ready to riot or something!

*CHAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!* LOL!
These beds seem to be quite old. Horsehair ceased to be used as a mattress-stuffer around the end of the 40s, I believe. Defffffinitely not your regulation, hypo-allergenic hospital-approved stuff used today.
i really want to go inside this place so bad i love all of you amazing pictures
