Moss Boards

Moss Boards

I had always guessed this room to be a roller skating rink due to the old 1970s era skates lying around.

another great photo Motts!
That was probably a beautiful, highly polished floor, now look at it. Actually I think I like it better now.
ANOTHER COOL SPLASH OF COLORS, THIS ROOM WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPRESSIVE IN ITS HAYDAY
Seems like a pretty random thing to have at a place like this.
Wow!
I love the colors.
Wow! The colors! Any closeups of the skates? What a cool thing!
I think I have a photo of a skate in one of the return trips...
aint nothing but a rotten floor and memories now
people had fun in a horrible place and now it just screams sadness
At first glance I would guess bowling alley, But if scate where lying around that pretty well tell it all.
that floor looks safe to walk on lol
great colors once again motts!
Fantastic! My father the hardwood floor man would hate to see that. The way the moss is growing is so cool.
Bizarre in every way!
The array of colors sorta draws you into the picture. It looks like a little world of it's own. Those red block things look sorta like roofs.
Does anybody else see the "micro-village" in the mossy area? It must be where the Schmarfs live. (They are a species very closley related to the Smurfs.)
Could be a Ballet Studio... But a skating rink seems more a direction to point to cuz of the skates
I think all of us are right.

It was a multi purpose room.

Wood floors were common and the same pattern/type of wood was used in ballrooms, skating rinks and baskitball gyms.
Great Photo Back behind the stage in the theater (the wall in between has fallen in the reveal a glimpse of the floor next to it.)
This was the roller skateing rink, last used mid 60's. was still in good shape when I started working there in the early 70's ,but never saw it used...
at least the people got to have some enjoyment in a place like this. I wish I got to roller skate when I was "invited" to stay in one of these places as Carrie Fisher would say haha
Wow! What a find! Love all of the moss.
Wow...nice pattern that the moss is growing!

I used to skate at a local rink up to about 1990, and this picture just brought back the flood of memories of that time with my then boyfriend Joe G....skating an all-night-skate after begging my mom to let me go. :)

Nice. Sad, but nice.
Disco time.
