Love it!
How classic. What a shame it's being left to rot.
These projectors are just so cool. And they are left everywhere!
that blue makes it look like someone turned it on
Man I can just imagine this baby running and that awesome sound they made.... that mechanical sound.
The knobs at the bottom and on the left are to adjust the carbon rod rotation speed and rate of 'Feed'. It actually took patience and real skill to operate these as they required constant fine tuning 'On the fly'. If the rods touched for anything other than initial start-up for more than a few seconds, it would burn the 'Cone' which held the rods and focused the light onto the mirrors. Really the most expensive part of the system which could essentially "Total" it. Very cool in any perspective. :-)
Jack, really interesting comment! Thanks for helping to give me a visual picture of how someone would run this machine!
Too sad, this item has been left to rot, with many other classic items.
Growing up going to the movies almost every week, I would always look behind me to try and see what was going on in "that room" at the back of the theater. If the movie sucked, I would just turn around and focus on those dark windows. When I got older, I had wanted to learn to be a projectionist but at that point all the theaters in my area were turning into "multi-plexes" and doing away with the old stuff. It was a dark day in my life when they took down the last CinemaScope screen and replaced it with those smaller ones. ! I still should have done it though!
theres an old theater in my town ,its a church now.it still has one of these upstairs, the majestic it was called was built in the 30's.its actually in goos shape.i dont beilieve it works though,
