Greet the Sun

Greet the Sun

It became somewhat of a ritual for me to come up to the top floors of the geriatric building and out to the end of the wing, to check out the situation on campus and make sure everything was quiet.

I am excited...a new post.
at my house we have a piano from the early 1900s it came with the house and none of us know how to play it but we are trying to get rid of it it was once a player then converted into an actual piano. but yea i like the shot i love how the sun is hitting the piano
OHMYGOD-- A NEW GALLERY!! I'm so glad I come back here EVERY DAY!!! Mr. Motts, I must say I really enjoy reading the introductions to your galleries ALMOST as much as I enjoy viewing the photographs. You have a very descriptive and haunting way of writing, it really is a pleasure to come here and find a new gallery with some history. I so wish we could meet some day and go exploring. I am somewhat of an artist / photographer myself but, sir, I would be willing to be your "camera caddy" and personal assistant just to go along for the ride! Thank you. Ed (ps - I have a nice convertible if you did want to explore some upstate NY abondoned buildings sometime, I know LOTS)
Thank-you for another gallery-- The psych-ward posts always intrigue me.
Motts its great when I see new postings up by you. I also love your web site. You do a great job. I hope someday you publish a book of your photos cause they are awesome .....great way to perserve some history.....cause these places and many others that you have pictured are going away all of the time. Esp at these asylums & hospitals. Its important to not forget the past or we are doomed to repeat it.......thanks again.
Motts,your the MAN?
wow, a new gallery! I'm excited!!!! Great title by the way
This is so well exposed. The highlights haven't quite burned out.
the color on the wood (?) of that piano is goregous in the sunlight
Awww man, busy for a week and pow!! Gallery! So pleased. Plus, oooooooh such light in this one.
It's always so sad to see a beautiful instrument like this go to waste. :( I have a friend who would love a piano like this.
The sunlight makes the wood look so very rich..beautiful dappled lighting.
Thank you so much, Motts, for the new gallery. I always enjoy it, you know that!!!
Cool ol' piano. Amazing and sad the stuff that gets left behind.
wow i love the way sunlight makes its way into these places
Ladies and gentlemen....BILLY JOEL!
Wow. That is a really great photo. I like the way the sunlight streams in from the window.
Excellect photo
nice and excellent photos i must say motts your photos are always great and visually stunning....
Play it again, Sam- I mean, Motts!
I've got to pay better attention.
I missed these added galleries.
Such a shame that they let these old pianos sit and rot. They should have been removed immediately when the building closed. We had a lot of these old pianos (in good shape but some were terribly out of tune! ) in the Music Dept. at my college. They did have 2 beautiful black grand pianos as well!
It is such a horrible waste. I'm sure it was just too expensive to move it. Moving a piano is such a big production, and costly.
Stunning
