For aslong as its been out there it still looks in decent shape. Though i don't think sleeping in the tunnel would be a option.

Great shot! Is the ceiling inside open to somewhere? I can see some kind of light or something in there.
yea i can see something on the roof 2 but i cant tell if its light or if its just something hanging from it also i was wondering if you could bypass the tunnel cause i wanted to know what was on the other side

Love this shot. It reminds me of a crumbling medieval castle.
The quench tower is basically a chimney with an array of water pipes and spray nozzles just above the tunnel opening. The quench car had 2000F coke in it hot from the ovens. and the car brought it under this structure where water sprays cooled it down. There would be a white plume of water vapor like a cloud coming out of the chimney, rising into the sky like a great cumulus cloud.
