That looks a little more than dangerous... did this place still have any electricity at all?
It almost looks burned.
Nope, the entire plant looked pretty dead.
Were these wires were intentionally cut for reasons other than vandalism? Safety reasons, for example?
Those wires weren't Cut. They look like the WireNut that was holding them together has been twisted off. Chances are some person came along and took them thinking they were useful.
They frayed edge indeed looks like it was yanked, not cut off from whatever was attached.

Any one know what piece of equipment this stunning shot is of?
no telling but it was some king of controls judging by the switches on the bottom.
mabey it was to run the conveyor belt same with the switches on the next page
This excellent photo makes it seem like the wires are still live.
makes me think scrappers have been through there.
Industry calls the scrappers "copper rats" who take whatever easily removed copper witing and controls from abandoned plants.
My favorite pics are usually the ones in the hospitals, particularly the asylums (sidetrack: which I really feel like putting my sister in right now cause I can hear her singing out in the kitchen right now and its 2 AM! ) but i cant resist my love for old machines and wires!
copper-insulated wire tends to be a scrap salvager magnet.
The scrappers are retarded, some of the old machines that they destroy for the copper wire are actually worth 400 times their weight in copper. I've found one such sad machine in an old house that I explored once, but now I'm just rambling...
