Wow, ugh. What a shame. I guess it shows us what 50 years can do to a neglected building. It's great to have the before shots to compare your current photos with Motts. Thank you.
looks like a runway in front of the stage, wonder what that was for?
Now that's a cool composition with all the colors.
They definitely achieved total destruction.
It looks like they might have built that ramp to remove all of the light and sound equipment when they closed.
very similar to what has happened to my body after fifty years HAHA
I bet those wet clothes smelled horrible!!!
wonder what happened to the chandeliers in the picture
i made a similar comment re:the runway in the prev pic.but dont you think if it was installed for removal of props and equipment, that perhaps it would be in a better state than the stage?i do realise it was probably only installed temporarily for removal, but being installed more recently, one would think it would be in better shape...

unless looters took the planking away...but then why would they not touch the pews...i dont know, just throwing it out there. = )
That's a runway for the zombie fashion shows.

"Moving picture" show. It's some of that new-fangled stuff. I don't hear that one very often any more!
.....a wheelchair ramp maybe?
My guess would be that the ramp, or runway, was installed for some special event(s) that took place here many years ago. Notice, also , that the apron of the stage (in front of the proscenium arch) has been significantly extended into the auditorium seating area - perhaps for the same reason. I guess only the ghosts of the building know for sure.

How wonderfully remarkable this is, to not only have a present photo of the room, but also a photo from many years ago for comparision (and from nearly the same angle as well!!
This is just devastating to see such beautiful architecture go to rack and ruin. So hauntingly beautiful and tragic.
I just can't believe a building like this would be wasted... it's so beautiful, and still strong in many ways... I mean, I can't believe somebody didn't do something before now, you know?
what is all of that colorful stuff strewn across the stage?
An assortment of garbage; lots of clothes.
I am hoping to travel to this location next month for photo shoots. I am hoping it goes well!
