Its amazing how fast things decay if they are not being used. It seems a shame to just let these buildings "these awesome buildings" turn to dust.
What a grand space, at least it must have been some years ago
Imagine the echo.. I'd love to throw a party here..
Yes! Thank you for the wallpaper! This looks like the inside of a church.
The two doors look totally like fireplace from this perspecive.

Thanks for the wallpaper
That is such a beautiful space. What a shame. Happy it's wallpaper, though, thanks Motts!
Love your site !!!! Keep up the good work and please be careful!!
I pray they will save this building. They cannot destroy it
Extraordinary image~!
Do the Americans have listed buildings protected like in England?...I have never seen so much heritage in danger of going for ever.
There's the National Register of Historic Places, but even a building listed there can be torn down.
Wow this is a great shot. Thanks for adding as a wallpaper Motts. Also a building that is on the National Register of Historic Places can't be torn down. That is the only reason why the Buffalo Terminal is saved, well and the 16 million dollar price tag to demolish it.
I believe that being listed on the register makes it a lot harder to tear down a building, but it can still be done with enough political or financial pull (eg. Wal-Mart flattening Dixmont State Hospital, listed on the register November 28, 1980).

MCS was supposed to be demolished in 2009 using federal stimulus money.
