Doorways

Doorways

Looking at one of the two elevator banks in the office tower - they were symmetrical and repeated in the same fashion on every floor except the top.

Wow that is soo cool, did you look down the shafts?
Were all of these elevators Motts? or half of them doorways?
The three at the very end were elevator banks, and there were three more on the left side (only one is visible in the photograph).

Yes peering over the edge of the open elevator shaft from the topmost floor possible is always a bit unnerving!
Motts, ive got this thing about elevators, i almost fell into a opened shaft in a old building i was exploring, kind of gets the heart to pounding! thanks for the info, and what was written on the side to the left, if you can recall?
Yeah, a guy fell down an elevator shaft in the building that is literally next door to this (the old abandoned post office) not too long ago. It took a few EMTs to saw his body out of the ice in the basement.

There are tons of messages written on the walls of MCS by someone under the moniker of "Catfish."
Thanks for the response Motts, i know you stay busy, Love your dedication, and Opacity, which is a very appropriate name for your site!
Oh my! What did i do now!
hahaha Lucie!!!!!! I didn't actually notice all the writing on the background when you post a comment. This site is so cool :D
That's crazy about the guy falling down the elevator shaft in the other building. You won't see me ever looking down one of those things. Great photo.. though sad to see what it's become.
wow....what a way to die!
Motts,

I've been a lurker but not a poster yet. I'm from Detroit and while I haven't had the cojones to actually explore the giant array of abandoned buildings we have (like, all of them lol) I study them and their history, especially MCS. "Catfish" was a guy who was living in the train station in the 90s because he was homeless. He's no longer there, apparently he pulled his act together, got a job, and is now doing okay. So there is an answer to your Catfish mystery (Btw, you do amazing work).
Thanks for the info. Chernobyl. I am glad you knew about Catfish. Hope he did indeed make it out of the train station and is doing well. :)
